Released Nottingham Forest defender Baba Fernandes won’t be signing for Luton Town this summer, boss Nathan Jones has told Luton Today.
The Hatters boss had taken the centre-back on trial, utilising him during a friendly game against Hitchin Town.
Fernandes was likely recommended to Jones by his first-team coach, Chris Cohen, who worked with the youngster at Forest.
The youngster is now in limbo and once again he’s on the lookout for a new club ahead of the 202/23 campaign.

Forest opted not to renew Fernandes’ contract. He left the City Ground having made two appearances for the senior setup.
His new club won’t be Luton though. Jones has confirmed that he’s not the right player for them at this moment in time.
He told Luton Today: “That’s someone we haven’t pursued after.
“He did really well for us, but maybe not the right time to bring him in at the minute.”
Luton will be on the lookout for a few more players before the big kick-off in under two weeks.
The Hatters have been active during the current campaign and with Jones at the helm, they’ll hope to defy the offs again.
Last season, they reached the Championship play-offs before losing to Huddersfield during a two-legged play-off semi-final.
Fernandes won’t be signing for Luton
It’s shame that the youngster wasn’t able to get hooked up with Luton. He might have proved a decent addition for the future and now he will go in search of another club.
The Reds were never going to offer him a new deal. Ultimately, the club had bigger plans once Premier League football was secured and they have a plethora of defenders anyway.

Fernandes didn’t look bad at all in his debut against Bradford in the Carabao Cup. Naturally, he kept his place in the team for the second round against Wolves but that was perhaps a step too far.
The young defender joined Forest from Vitoria in Portugal. As a result, perhaps the defender can get something sorted for next season back in his homeland.
