Yorkshire Live reporter Steven Chicken has claimed that a deal for Lewis O’Brien and Harry Toffolo to join Nottingham Forest is off.

He’s claimed that the clubs can’t agree on a fee for the pair and right now a deal won’t be taking place.

It comes out of the blue given that earlier reports today had claimed that Forest were set to announce the duo today.

Furthermore, John Percy from The Telegraph claims that a deal for O’Brien is all but done.

He does, however, concede that there are problems with a deal to bring Toffolo to the club.

Forest will hope it’s not a case of back to the drawing board as the Reds desperately try and bolster their midfield ranks.

Forest have a crisis in the middle of the park. Ryan Yates is injured leaving Jack Colback, Cafu and Braian Ojeda to compete for the midfield spaces.

Young midfielder Oliver Hammond has featured in pre-season and he’s unlikely to be considered in the Premier League.

Now, it’s a confusing situation and fans won’t know who to believe on the matter.

If deal for O’Brien and Toffolo is off there will be some Forest panic

Make no bones about it here, O’Brien is the one that Forest fans want to see over the line.

Cooper is desperate for midfielders and the Huddersfield man would be a remarkable signing.

Toffolo is likely to be considered as a backup option anyway and if that one has gone south it won’t be the end of the world.

The contrast in reports represents the sign of the times. Forest will want to get things spot on for the Premier League and perhaps they’re being savvy with their spending.

Hopefully, Forest can at least get O’Brien over the line. If that does happen some supporters might relax a little bit after these mixed reports.
