Harry Toffolo has made a sensational u-turn and is now set to complete a transfer to Nottingham Forest alongside Lewis O’Brien.

According to The Athletic, the 26-year-old is currently in Nottingham undergoing a medical.

Furthermore, Fabrizio Romano claims that deal could be completed and official very soon.

He had been holding up the double deal after initially rejecting Forest’s wage offer.

That had threatened to scupper the deal completely, with the Reds agreeing on a fee for both players with Huddersfield.

O’Brien’s move is less complex. He passed a medical and agreed personal terms yesterday and was set to be unveiled today.

The 23-year-old has already fulfilled his media interviews and they nearly proved to be completely useless.

Toffolo has had a change of heart, however.

He’s now backed down on his wage demands and both players are set to be announced as new signings soon.

Both O’Brien and Toffolo were standout players for Huddersfield last season.

The duo were mainstays in the team as Carlos Corberan defied the odds and took the Terriers to the play-off final.

Now, Dean Hoyle has cashed in on the duo and Forest bolster their squad considerably.

The Reds will take their summer spending to £70 million once these deals are completed.

Toffolo makes u-turn and moving to Forest makes sense for him

There are a number of factors that probably saw Toffolo make some big decisions earlier today.

First, this is a huge chance for him to play Premier League football.

At 27, there might not be many more chances for him to play in the top flight and Forest are willing to give him that chance now.

There’s also his relationship with O’Brien.

The pair are good pals and scuppering his mate’s Premier League opportunity might not sit easily with him.

Ultimately, the £2.5m-rated Toffolo is in charge of his destiny really.

He will face competition for a place at Forest but if he takes it, he could enjoy many successful years at the club.

Common sense looks to have prevailed and after the debacle of today, Forest fans will be glad to see an official announcement.
