Jermaine Jenas has sent a two-word Instagram post to Jesse Lingard after the player penned a one-year deal at Nottingham Forest.

The England international joins the club as a free agent, having left Manchester United in June.

Lingard ended a long-standing association with the Red Devils and has been available ever since.

The 29-year-old has rejected an offer from West Ham to become a stellar signing for Forest.

Lingard made over 200 appearances for Manchester United. He never really fulfilled his potential but he’s a capable top-flight player.

Most recently, the versatile forward enjoyed a successful six-month stint in London with West Ham.

During the second half of the 2020/21 campaign, he made 16 appearances for the Hammers, scoring nine goals and claiming five assists.

Forest will hope they’ve signed that version of Lingard and not the one who struggled at United last season.

In fairness, the 32-cap England man didn’t get much of a look in when it came to game time.

He probably regrets sticking at Old Trafford last season given that he played just 21 times.

As a result, he will be eager to get going at Forest and regain some confidence.

Jenas is a man who knows all about playing in front of the Forest faithful and he’s buzzing by this news.

It was only two months ago that he was dancing along to ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ in a box at Wembley.

Even Jenas probably didn’t think he’d be congratulating Lingard on a move to Forest down the line but here we are.

Shortly after the former United man was unveiled by Forest, he sent a two-word post to Lingard, that merely said: “Come on!!!”

Jenas will hope that Lingard can help Forest continue progressing this season.

The hope will be that he rediscovers his very best form, scores lots of goals and helps the Reds claim a respectable league position.

Lingard is a marquee signing for the Reds and clearly, it’s delighted former Reds star Jenas.
