Aston Villa are open to letting Nottingham Forest transfer target Keinan Davis leave the club. Furthermore, Birmingham Live claims that the player would be open to leaving Villa Park before the transfer window closes.

The 24-year-old has missed some of pre-season through injury. He’s suffered a recurrence of the hamstring injury that saw him miss some of Forest’s run-in.

Villa face Rennes on Saturday and it’s thought that Davis will be back. The report claims that he could get the chance to play during the second half of the clash against the League One outfit.

The Villa youngster was immense for Forest. He scored five goals and claimed three assists from his 22 appearances and proved a real warrior in the attack.

Davis became a fan favourite and Steve Cooper would dearly love to add him to his squad before the transfer window closes next month.

Forest have been actively trying to get Davis. Villa had quoted Forest £15 million and it seems unlikely that the club will be paying that for his services.

The Reds are in need of a new striker. Taiwo Awoniyi has been added to the ranks and Sam Surridge is now on the way back from his injury.

Lewis Grabban has departed though and that leaves Cooper with a void to fill in his squad for the Premier League campaign.

Villa open to letting Davis leave and Forest must act

This would be a tremendous deal for the Reds and it’s something they should look to complete as a matter of urgency.

Forest were a much better outfit last term when he played and he proved a real battering ram of a striker when spearheading the Reds attack.

Davis would surely love to come back to Forest. With Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins in place at Villa Park, his chances of football will be slim.

At 24 he will want to continue playing regular football. Sitting on the bench won’t do his development any good and he’d be worshipped at the City Ground.

This one might go all the way to the transfer deadline but Forest have to do whatever it takes to land Davis before the window slams shut.
