Nottingham Forest have placed PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare on their shortlist of midfield targets, according to the Daily Mail.
The Reds are hoping to sign another midfielder once they’ve completed a deal to sign Stuttgart player Orel Mangala.
Forest are in talks for William Carvalho who tops the club’s four-man shortlist of midfield targets.
Sangare is one of the other options on the list though and he’s a wanted man this summer.
The 24-year-old has a release clause in his PSV contract thought to be worth around £34 million.
It’s been an exciting summer for the midfielder with Aston Villa and Manchester United both courting him.
Erik ten Hag has held talks with Sangare but it would appear that he’s moved on to other targets now.
Forest have strengthened their midfield ranks this summer with the addition of Lewis O’Brien.
Mangala is set to join him at the City Ground and perhaps those two will compete for a place in the team.
Ryan Yates is likely to be in direct competition with the combative player that arrives and that could be Sangare.
The youngster has been with PSV since 2020 when he signed from Toulouse.
He’s made 87 appearances for the club and has been considered a mainstay in the team.
Furthermore, Sangare has made 24 appearances for the Ivory Coast, scoring five goals.
Sangare placed on Forest shortlist and he could star
This could be a remarkable signing from a Forest perspective and he ticks a lot of boxes.
At 24 he has bags of potential and he’s gained invaluable experience at PSV during the last two years.
Sangare certainly wouldn’t be an easy signing to complete, not least due to the heft price tag placed upon him.
If Forest can get it over the line, however, it would represent a statement signing.
Rumour rating: 8/10 – On paper, this looks like another savvy signing if Forest can complete it.
The midfield engine room is a very important area and Sangare would certainly be an improvement on current options.
Forest definitely need another midfielder to come in before the deadline and Sangare looks capable of taking the Premier League by storm.
