Nottingham Forest are set to announce the signing of Stuttgart midfielder Orel Mangala. The player will now fly to London to complete the formalities of his transfer.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the player passed his medical in Athens yesterday. He’s advised Forest fans not to panic and confirmed that a deal should go through.

Mangala will strengthen the Reds’ midfield ranks. Steve Cooper is still on the lookout for at least one more new recruit in midfield once Mangala has been added to the squad.

The 24-year-old has been with Stuttgart since 2019. He was signed from Hamburg by George Syrianos who currently oversees international transfers at the City Ground.

Mangala has grown as a player in the Bundesliga. He has been courted by Manchester United this summer after starring for the Bundesliga side over the last three years.

The energetic midfielder has made 109 appearances for the German outfit. He’s scored three goals and claimed 10 assists, with his game based on working hard and doing the ugly stuff well.

To offer an indication as to what sort of player Magala is, he’s recently been compared to Chelsea superstar N’Golo Kante.

Forest have been searching for another midfielder. Lewis O’Brien has been added this summer, with Ryan Yates and Jack Colback already at the club ahead of next season.

Cooper won’t be done there. He wants to make sure his squad is well-stocked and a new four-man central midfield shortlist has been drawn up by the club.

Forest set to announce Mangala as new Reds player

This looks like quite a capture from a Forest perspective. Mangala is a hugely exciting player and the Reds will tie him down ahead of his best years.

The Belgian one-cap international is likely to sign a four-year contract with Forest. He will head to the Premier League with a point to prove and he could quickly become a star player.

It will be interesting to see where he slots into the Forest team. He looks set to take one of the midfield spots but whether he’s tasked with holding, or progressing forward remains to be seen.

Forest fans will be excited to see this one over the line. With the medical now finalised, all that’s left is the official unveiling and the Reds will land themselves a real coup.
