Nottingham Forest have initiated contact with Inter over the signing of Andrea Pinamonti, according to Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness. The 23-year-old could be allowed to leave the San Siro giants this summer, with the Reds now in the mix.

Pinamonti has been with the Serie A outfit since 2020 when he signed from Genoa. Last season he spent the campaign on loan with Empoli and scored 13 times during 27 outings for the top-flight club.

A number of clubs are keen to add Pinamonti to their ranks this summer. Forest, however, are the first club to make contact with Inter over a possible deal for the striker.

The 23-year-old is valued at around £17 million for any club wanting to sign him permanently. Atalanta are keen but won’t budge on the £13 million which they feel he is worth.

Pinamonti will see his first-team chances restricted at Inter. They have signed Romelu Lukaku this summer and he’s expected to strike up a partnership with Lautaro Martinez once more.

After heading out on loan and scoring goals last season, Pinamonti will crave more. Atalanta will have a significant pull given they’re an established top-flight team but they’ll need to fork out more cash.

That could open a door for Forest. They’re in the market for a new striker before the window closes; with Taiwo Awoniyi and Sam Surridge currently in competition for a place in the team.

At this stage, it would be easy to think that Dane Murphy plays Football Manager! The Inter striker is a wizard on the Sports Interactive series and this might prove a decent signing.

Last season, the player starred for Empoli and proved himself as a man for the big occasion. He scored important goals against Roma, Napoli and parent club Inter during 2021/22.

Pinamonti might have more appealing options but the Premier League might be hard to reject. Also, he might view the competition on offer at the City Ground as something he can overcome and quickly become a first choice in the team.

Rumour rating: 8/10 – Get it done! This signing would go down really well among the fan base, not least given that he was brilliant in Serie A last season.

Forest do need a striker. Surridge scored once in pre-season, with Awoniyi yet to find the net. Naturally, that makes the Reds faithful a little anxious over the attacking options.

Pinamonti looks like a useful player and with bags of potential, he’d represent a truly remarkable piece of business.
