Nottingham Forest are chasing Morgan Gibbs-White but there are conflicting rumours emerging about Wolverhampton Wanderers ace’s future.

Forest have been incredibly busy in the summer transfer window with 11 new signings brought in since winning promotion.

Jesse Lingard has been the headline capture for Forest but Steve Cooper has still been chasing another versatile attacking midfielder.

The main target has been Morgan Gibbs-White and Forest are really pushing to secure his signature.

Cooper worked with Wolves talent Gibbs-White in the England Under-17’s and then at Swansea City.

There have been rumours linking Gibbs-White with Forest all summer and The Athletic reported earlier today that Forest’s latest bid has been rejected.

That report noted that Evangelos Marinakis had personally taken charge of Forest’s pursuit to try and get the Gibbs-White deal.

There is new optimism tonight as BBC East Midlands reporter Natalie Jackson has taken to Twitter to report that Gibbs-White is ‘on the verge’ of joining Forest.

Jackson claims that the deal is ‘very close’ and ‘in the final stages’ with Forest hoping to complete the signing in the coming days.

Forest fans have understandably been very excited about that, but the buzz has been dulled a little.

Liam Keen of The Express and Star claims that rumours of Gibbs-White being close to joining are ‘premature’ and that Wolves don’t want to sell him.

Gibbs-White trained as normal today according to Keen, and it will be interesting to see if he is involved in Wolves’ clash away at Leeds United on Saturday.

Gibbs-White excelled on loan at Sheffield United last season, hitting 12 goals and 10 assists in 37 games for the Blades.

Cooper clearly wants to reunite with Gibbs-White and Forest are pushing hard to get a deal done, but it looks like fans will have to be just a little more patient yet.
