Nottingham Forest want Houssem Aouar and are ready to fight Leicester City in an ambitious move for the Lyon playmaker.
What a summer it has been for Forest.
Steve Cooper has been backed with a host of new faces this summer; 11 first-team additions to be exact!
Dean Henderson, Wayne Hennessey, Giulian Biancone, Moussa Niakhate, Neco Williams, Harry Toffolo, Omar Richards, Lewis O’Brien, Orel Mangala, Jesse Lingard and Taiwo Awoniyi have all arrived in a staggering transfer window.
There may well be more to come though as rumours in recent days have linked Remo Freuler and Morgan Gibbs-White with moves to the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest want Houssem Aouar
For now though, there is an exciting new name being mentioned.
French news outlet Foot Mercato report that Forest really like Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar and are tempted to make a bid for him.
Aouar looked likely to join Real Betis earlier this summer but that move has stalled.
Forest and East Midlands rivals Leicester are now keen on Aouar, with Lyon demanding around €15million (£12.5million) for their talented midfielder.
Aouar, 24, has just one year left on his Lyon deal and he may be sold before he leaves for nothing.
The Frenchman was tipped for big things just a few years ago but maybe hasn’t kicked on as many anticipated.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola called Aouar ‘incredible’ back in 2018 and hailed his ‘excellent technical quality’.
Aouar would be a quite sensational capture for Forest, adding real star quality alongside the likes of O’Brien, Mangala and Ryan Yates in midfield.
It seems like a deal for Atalanta star Freuler is more likely at the moment, but if Forest receive any kind of encouragement that Aouar would be willing to move to the City Ground, a bid may well arrive in the coming weeks.
