Lille boss Paulo Fonseca is yet to make a decision on the future of Nottingham Forest-linked winger Yusuf Yazici. According to Le Petit Lillois, interest is rife from across Europe with clubs in Italy, Russia and England vying for his services.

Yazici was expected to have departed Lille by now. Earlier in the summer both Forest and Fulham were linked with his signature; although it has also been claimed that the versatile forward isn’t on the Reds’ radar.

Yazici was handed a brief chance to prove himself at the weekend. He came on for the final six minutes as Lille thrashed Auxerre 4-1 in game week one of the new Ligue 1 campaign.

Last season, the 26-year-old went on loan for regular game time. The 25-year-old scored eight goals and picked up two yellow cards during a very fruitful spell in Russia with CSKA Moscow.

He was expected to leave Lille on a permanent basis but nothing has come to fruition yet. Interestingly, the player spent a lot of time during 2021/22 playing as a centre-forward and not in his natural position out wide.

Yazici will be quite a catch for someone this summer. He’s played 39 times for Turkey and has some experience when it comes to playing in Europe, having spent time with Trabzonspor too.

Fonseca yet to make Yazici decision

It would appear that the Italian boss is still getting to know his squad. As a result, the versatile performer might have to be patient for a chance to properly shine in the first team.

Ideally, the player will have his future sorted. At the same time, however, he might be craving a chance to really prove himself to Fonseca.

Forest might have suggested they’re not interested. If other targets fall by the wayside, however, they could return to take a chance on Yazici.

The international wouldn’t break the bank and currently earns £16,000-a-week in France. With that in mind, the player might not be a bad fallback option for Steve Cooper this month.
