Michail Antonio has said on Twitter that he can’t wait to play against Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon. The former Reds star will line up for West Ham against the Reds when the two teams meet at the weekend.

Antonio spent just over a year on Trentside. He was instrumental for the team, showcasing some amazing form under Stuart Pearce and Dougie Freedman.

In 54 outings for the Reds, he scored 19 goals and laid on a further 15 in the way of assists. He was sold to West Ham for around £7 million in 2015, much to the dismay of the fan base.

At the London Stadium, Antonio has quickly become a fan favourite. He’s found the net 60 times in 227 appearances and he looks set to be Davis Moyes’ primary source of goals again this season.

Forest will be hoping to get their season kick-started at the weekend. The Reds were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle on the opening day. As a result, they will want to give their own fans something to cheer.

Antonio will be plotting the downfall of his former club but it’s fair to say that he still holds Forest dear to his heart.

The West Ham star should be in line for a strong reception this weekend. It will be the first time he’s faced Forest since leaving and it’s a chance for the supporters to thank him for his service.

Although his stay was short and sweet, he was unplayable at times. Forest were brilliant at the start of his only season at the club and a large part of that was down to Antonio.

Ahead of the game on Sunday, the 32-year-old winger has taken to Twitter. He’s basically said that he’s looking forward to the game and guarantees that the City Ground will be buzzing.

He’s also said that he’s hoping to get ‘the W’. The challenge for Forest is to hope that the former winger isn’t celebrating a first win of the season at 4pm on Sunday.
