Nottingham Forest have made a bid to sign Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar, according to L’Equipe. Furthermore, the player is open to the idea of signing terms at the City Ground.

The 24-year-old was the subject of interest from Real Betis recently. He was unable to agree on personal terms with the La Liga outfit, with Forest and Leicester now thought to be keen.

Latest reports suggest that Forest have been in talks with the player’s representatives over the last few days. After positive discussions, it’s now been claimed that the Reds have made an offer for the player.

Aouar has been with Lyon for his entire career. He’s risen through the youth academy and is one example of just how well respected the Ligue 1 club are when it comes to nurturing young players.

Aouar has made 215 appearances for the former champions. He’s scored 40 goals and laid on a further 35 in the way of assists, making one appearance for the France national team.

The playmaker has earned praise from some of the game’s biggest names. Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola previously called him ‘incredible’ following a Champions League clash.

Aouar earns £62,000-a-week at Lyon. As a result, Forest will likely have to pull out the stops when it comes to securing a deal to bring the Frenchman to the City Ground.

Forest have made bid for Aouar

It will be interesting to see whether this first attempt comes to fruition. It could be quite telling that Aouar is said to be keen to come to the City Ground this summer.

Forest have been trying to bolster their attacking ranks for some time. A move for Morgan Gibbs-White looks to have hit an impasse and perhaps this is the clearest sign yet that the club are ready to move on.

Aouar is represented by ICM Stellar Sports. The same agency has Moussa Niakhate, Dean Henderson and Wayne Hennessey as part of their client portfolio.

Last season, Aouar spent time playing in a number of positions. He played most of his football as a 10 but also played in central midfield and on the left wing.

This is huge news for Forest fans. If the Reds can get this deal over the line, it could become one of the most underrated deals done all summer in the Premier League.
