Watford are set to complete the signing of Keinan Davis on loan from Aston Villa; paving the way for Emmanuel Dennis to make a permanent move to the City Ground.

The Athletic claims that Davis is in Hertfordshire today to complete a medical. He will sign on loan for the 2021/22 campaign, with a view to signing permanent terms next year.

Crucially, this sees Watford get themselves sorted ahead of Dennis leaving the club. Forest are thought to have agreed on a deal worth £20 million to sign the Nigerian.

Some Reds supporters will be sad that Davis isn’t returning. Ultimately, Villa are to blame and they’ve robbed the 24-year-old of a chance to make a Premier League switch this summer.

Forest were keen to add Davis to their ranks after their promotion in May. Remarkably, Villa quoted the Reds £15 million though and naturally, they’ve turned their attention elsewhere.

In a strange turn of events, the Reds are now taking the man that Davis will replace. Dennis is set to join Forest, following 10 goals and five assists in his maiden Premier League campaign last season.

Davis will complete his medical today. If all goes well he will sign until the end of the campaign and the Hornets will have an option to keep him permanently next summer.

This is a bit of a sad one for the Reds supporters. Not because they were hellbent on keeping Davis but because it would seem that Villa’s ridiculous pricing has kept him from the clutches of Forest.

Still, Forest are getting a decent deal out of it too. Dennis is a very useful addition indeed and he will be welcomed by Steve Cooper into the Forest squad.

Davis scored five goals in 22 appearances for Forest last season. His brute strength was a huge attribute in the Reds’ promotion win and he possesses unbelievable power.

Fair play to Forest though. They haven’t been held at ransom by the Villans and in Dennis, they’ve landed a player who will all due respect to Davis, is proven in the Premier League.
