Nottingham Forest have been linked with a host of players this summer, with Houssem Aouar the latest to be namechecked.

The Lyon star looks to be on the move this summer and Forest simply have to pull out the stops.

Steve Cooper would have loved to have landed Morgan Gibbs-White this summer but that’s not proved possible.

Wolves want an absolute fortune and frankly, they’re playing a risky game, with the player unwilling to sign a new contract.

Now, Forest are forced to look elsewhere and all roads should lead to one-time France international Aouar.

The player has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs for several years now.

Arsenal and Tottenham have actively monitored him, whilst Leicester are also thought to be in the mix to sign him this summer.

The 24-year-old is a product of the Lyon academy. He’s made over 200 appearances for them, scoring 40 goals and claiming 35 assists.

Forest have made some solid signings this summer already. It’s fair to say, however, that Aouar would be a statement signing.

A move to Real Betis recently collapsed. The Copa del Rey winners were unable to agree on personal terms and that put Aouar back to the drawing board.

Forest have now made a bid though. An agreement isn’t close or anything but the Reds must push for this deal.

Aouar linked with Forest and Reds have to do whatever it takes

The France international played in a couple of positions last season. He operated as a central midfielder and as a number 10 at various points.

Aouar is comfortable in possession and he’s a player that is capable of making something out of nothing on the pitch.

At 24 he still has bags of unearthed potential and he’s also more than capable of contributing in the way of goals and assists.

Aouar probably won’t come cheap. Okay, he’s out of contract next summer but he currently earns £62,000-a-week at Lyon and he’ll want a significant wage.

Of all the players still being linked with a move to the City Ground, Aouar is the one that supporters would love to see get over the line.

Pep Guardiola has previously raved about Aouar too. He called him ‘incredible’ following a Champions League clash and he knows a good player.

He’s the type of player that will get the City Ground faithful out of their seats and Forest simply have to send out a message to the rest of the Premier League.
