Alex Crook has claimed that Neal Maupay is pushing for a move to sign for Nottingham Forest. The TalkSPORT transfer guru claims the Brighton man has been the subject of a £15 million bid from the Reds.
Maupay has been with Brighton since 2019. He joined the Sussex-based club from Brentford where he was signed by Forest’s current Head of Scouting, Andy Scott.
The 26-year-old has slipped out of favour at the AMEX Stadium. He was on the bench for Brighton’s opening day win at Manchester United but wasn’t involved at all on Saturday.

Maupay has just a year left to run on his contract. As a result, Graham Potter is willing to let his striker leave the club this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
The striker who typically works tirelessly when he’s called upon has been a decent goalscorer in England. He’s scored 27 goals in 109 appearances for Brighton and bagged 41 goals in 95 games for Brentford.
Forest have been busy trying to bolster their attacking ranks. The Reds signed Emmanuel Dennis from Watford over the weekend and he should get up to speed pretty quickly.
Maupay could now move to Forest. If he does, it will leave Taiwo Awoniyi, Sam Surridge, Dennis and the Frenchman to fight it out for a place in Cooper’s team.
The former Nice centre-forward is a popular figure at Brighton. Potter has previously praised him, calling him ‘incredible’.
Maupay pushing to sign for Nottingham Forest
This might not be a bad signing at all. Forest are in a position where they do need some more firepower and perhaps having options won’t be a bad thing this season.
Maupay has lost his way a little bit in recent times. Despite that, he did still finish the 2021/22 campaign with nine goals from his 35 outings in all competitions.

At 26, Maupay should now be at the peak of his powers. He is a player that works hard when he’s given an opportunity and he should prove a useful signing for the Reds.
Perhaps most crucially, the player wants to come. The Reds will have looked at lots of players this summer but the fact that the £35,000-a-week Maupay is desperate to come speaks volumes.
