RMC Sport has claimed that Nottingham Forest have gone a step further in their quest to sign Lyon star Houssem Aouar.

It’s claimed that personal terms have now been agreed with the 24-year-old and now the Reds have to agree on a fee with his club.

Aouar is a world-class talent in the world of football. He’s progressed through the youth team ranks with the French club and made over 200 appearances for Lyon.

Arsenal have previously been linked with a move for Aouar. They tried to bring him to London in 2020 but saw a bid of £31.5 million rejected by the Gunners.

Now, he could be set for a move to Forest. The Reds are keen to get their squad finalised and have identified Aouar as one player they can bring to the club.

Forest are bidding to sign the £62,000-a-week star before the deadline closes next month. Their opening two bids have been rejected by Lyon but they will return with another.

The Reds are believed to be close to meeting the Ligue 1 club’s demands. He is out of contract next summer and ultimately, they may have to sell him.

Forest will be confident they can land Aouar. Now, it appears that he’s ready to swap France for England and a deal could be close.

Forest step closer to Aouar

This would be quite the signing. Forest would be signing a player that was called ‘incredible’ by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

The Reds have spent all summer chasing Wolves star Morgan Gibbs-White. It would appear that he won’t sign a new contract at Molineux and he might still be an option.

Still, the sums they are asking for the 22-year-old are eye-watering. As a result, the Reds have moved quickly to identify another target.

Aouar would bring some versatility to the City Ground. During his career, he’s typically played as a number 10, but he can also play as a central midfielder.

Forest are set to return with another offer for the Lyon star. With personal terms now agreed it appears only a matter of time before Aouar is a Forest player.
