Crystal Palace are turning their attentions towards Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar, according to L’Equipe. The Reds have already agreed on a five-year deal with the 24-year-old but the clubs must agree on a fee before an agreement can be completed.

Forest have made several attempts to land Aouar. It’s claimed that at this moment, the Reds are around £4 million away from obtaining the player who has collected a single cap for the France national team during his career.

Steve Cooper is keen to add another number 10. Several players have been linked with a move to the City Ground, with Morgan Gibbs-White considered one of the club’s top targets before the window closes.

Aouar is a level above though. He would have to be considered a real statement signing for the Reds and if the club can get it over the line, it would send a message out to the rest of the Premier League clubs who will battle with Forest this season.

Signing him won’t be easy though. Enter Palace. The player has already rejected personal terms at Real Betis this summer and the player is willing to join Forest before the window closes if a Champions League club doesn’t come forward.

Palace turning attentions to Aouar and Forest must get this deal done

The Reds are just £4 million away and that doesn’t feel like a lot. With Palace already boasting some seriously talented players, that move looks attractive and as a result, Forest have to tread very carefully.

Aouar is a quality player. He’s risen through the youth ranks at Lyon, making over 200 appearances for the club and enjoying several Champions League occasions in the past.

The fact that Forest are even in the mix for him is quite remarkable. As a newly promoted outfit, it would be considered that the Reds have no chance but here we are.

Aouar is currently paid £62,000-a-week at Lyon. Clearly, he’s been satisfied with the terms on offer at the City Ground and is willing to sign a five-year contract at the club.

With an established Premier League club now in the mix, Forest have to get serious. If they do, the club will land a seriously talented player who could light up the English top-flight.
