Nottingham Forest head to Everton this afternoon looking to claim a first away win in the Premier League since 1999.

The Reds beat West Ham last weekend at the City Ground to kick-start their 2022/23 campaign.

Steve Cooper knows his team can play better though and at times last week, they did ride their luck.

Today they face Everton who are without a point from their opening two Premier League games.

Frank Lampard knows he must turn things around pretty quickly and Forest will hope that doesn’t begin this afternoon.

Ahead of the trip to Goodison Park, we looked at how the Reds might line up this afternoon.

Nottingham Forest predicted XI v Everton:

The Forest rearguard

Dean Henderson was magnificent against West Ham and he will almost certainly start today.

At the back, an enforced change could be made, with Moussa Niakhate possibly missing out.

That could see a familiar looking back three, with Steve Cook slotting in alongside Scott McKenna and Joe Worrall.

In the Forest engine room and wing backs

Cooper has options here. Remo Freuler and Cheikhou Kouyate have been added to the squad since the Reds faced West Ham.

They will both settle for a place on the bench though, with Lewis O’Brien and Orel Mangala likely to start.

There could be a place on the bench for Ryan Yates who has been back in training this week.

At wing-back, there will be zero change. Neco Williams will operate on the right and Harry Toffolo will play on the left.

Leading the Forest line

Emmanuel Dennis looks likely to be in the squad for the first time but Taiwo Awoniyi’s first goal last week should earn him another start.

Brennan Johnson is Forest’s matchwinner and he should keep his place too.

For Jesse Lingard, his fitness isn’t quite there yet having had a shorter pre-season than other players.

Still, he will probably start, with new signing Morgan Gibbs-White likely to provide an option from the bench.
