Nottingham Forest want Willy Boly and have already offered £1million for the Wolverhampton Wanderers defender.

Forest have already seen one summer signing go down with injury as Omar Richards picked up a hairline fracture in his leg during pre-season.

There is now another face heading to the treatment room as defender Moussa Niakhate is facing months out of action with a thigh injury.

That’s a huge blow after a really strong start to his Premier League career, and Forest may now need to dip into the market for another defender.

Nottingham Forest want Willy Boly

The Telegraph’s John Percy now reports that Forest have made their move for Wolves defender Boly.

It’s stated that Forest have offered £1million for Boly but Wolves have rejected that bid.

Wolves not only want more money but are also seeking a replacement for Boly before letting the experienced defender leave the club.

Wolves have signed one new centre back this summer in Nathan Collins but would want another option should Boly go.

It’s just days since Forest snapped up a Wolves player in Morgan Gibbs-White, but the two teams are seemingly back in transfer talks once again.

Boly, 31, is a huge presence at 6ft 5in tall and joined Wolves from Porto back in 2017.

The Ivory Coast international has racked up almost 150 appearances for Wolves but played just 10 Premier League games last term.

Once hailed as a ‘warrior’ by Jamie Redknapp and ‘fantastic’ by Nuno Espirito Santo, Boly’s importance at Molineux has faded in recent times.

Boly suffered from long COVID back in 2021 whilst muscle injuries have piled up in recent years.

Adding Boly’s Premier League experience and considerable physical presence would make some sense, but his age and injury record of late are of major concern.

£1million was never likely to be accepted but Forest do need to be careful in terms of committing too much money to ageing, injury-prone players.
