Nottingham Forest will make a fresh bid for Wolves defender Willy Boly after seeing a £1 million bid rejected. According to the Daily Mail, the Reds won’t be deterred by the lastest rejection.

Wolves must be sick of the sight of Forest. The Molineux-based club have seemingly been on the City Ground speed-dial this month, following a long pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White.

We all know how that chase ended. Forest got their man and the 22-year-old made his debut from the bench against Everton on Saturday.

After the game, Steve Cooper confirmed that Moussa Niakhate will be out for months with a hamstring injury and Forest are trying to act quickly.

Boly arrived at Wolves from Porto in 2017. He initially checked in on loan and made his move to Molineux permanent the following summer.

The 31-year-old has made 147 appearances for the West Midlands club in total. Bruno Lage has never considered him a regular though and last season he made just 11 appearances.

During the current campaign, he’s been in all three of Wolves’ matchday squads. He has, however, failed to get on the pitch and he would welcome the chance to play football.

Forest still have options. Joe Worrall, Scott McKenna and Steve Cook all played on Saturday; with Giulian Biancone also capable of operating at centre-back.

Another player is required though and Boly is now on the Forest radar, with another move in the offing for the centre-back.

Forest to make fresh bid for Boly

The 13-time Ivory Coast international is on the radar of Forest ahead of the transfer window slamming shut in the next week or so.

Boly earns £46,000-a-week at Molineux and he will want a decent salary to make the move to the City Ground.

The international has earned praise from former Wolves captain Jody Craddock in the past. He called him ‘really good’ back in 2019 and he’s enjoyed a decent time of things at Wolves.

Ultimately, he will want to play football though and Forest could certainly offer him that in the short term.

The Reds squad is still perhaps lacking in Premier League experience and Boly would definitely strengthen the group in that sense.
