Wolves boss Bruno Lage has confirmed that they’ve received a proposal for Willy Boly amid interest from Nottingham Forest.

Lage saw his side progress to round three of the Carabao Cup last night with a 2-1 win over Preston.

Forest defeated Grimsby Town 3-0 at Blundell Park and another injury might have struck for the Reds.

Cheikhou Kouyate was withdrawn with an injury after starting the contest as a central defender.

With Moussa Niakhate ruled out for a matter of months, Forest have stepped up their efforts to sign another centre-back.

Boly is on the radar having fallen down the pecking order at Molineux under Lage.

The experienced defender was set for a rare outing last night but after the game, the boss confirmed why he didn’t take part.

He told the Express and Star: “The only thing I can say if that Boly, with me, has had good behaviour, is a top professional and every time he respects my opinions.

“This morning he didn’t feel that he can play, he has some pains, so he stayed out of the squad.

“That’s the only thing I can say for now. Let’s see what happens until the end of the market. I know there is a proposal for him, so let’s see what happens.”

The 31year-old has been with Wolves since 2017 when he joined the club on an initial loan.

Boly has played 13 times for Ivory Coast and has made 147 appearances for Wolves in total.

The centre-back is out of contract next summer and now Wolves will surely consider Forest’s offer.

Wolves receive Boly proposal

Forest clearly see Boly as a player who can come in and make an impact on the team.

He’s an experienced defender and the Reds have already seen a bid of £1 million rejected by Wolves.

A second bid of £2 million was made and now the Premier League club must weigh up whether or not to accept it.

Boly earns £46,000-a-week at Molineux and perhaps the player wouldn’t be deemed a cheap option to have in reserve.

It will be interesting to see how this one pans out and whether or not Forest can get Boly over the line.
