Chris Sutton has backed Nottingham Forest to get absolutely thrashed by Tottenham on Sunday.

The pundit has taken over the weekly predictions on the BBC Sport website and he’s taken aim at Forest this week.

In fairness, he delivers next to nothing in the way of a justification for such an emphatic scoreline for Spurs.

Forest defeated West Ham in their maiden home Premier League game in 23 years, with Taiwo Awoniyi scoring.

Last weekend, they collected a decent point at Everton and really they should have taken all three at Goodison Park.

Still, Sutton bizarrely praised Forest in his latest round of predictions but then opted to predict a thrashing.

He told BBC Sport: “I like the way Forest have started. They have spent a lot of money and you can look at that in different ways, if you are Forest supporter you are thinking the owner is showing great intent.

“They have a good manager in Steve Cooper but this type of team might play right into Spurs’ hands.

“I’ve not been disappointed in Spurs, but I think they got away with it at Chelsea and beat Wolves narrowly last week thanks to Harry Kane’s goal. They haven’t been flowing – Son Heung-min is in my fantasy team and needs to get into gear.

But Forest at home will try and take the game to Spurs and that might suit Antonio Conte’s side”

Sutton then preceded to predict a 5-0 scoreline in the way of Tottenham and supporters won’t be happy with the lack of respect.

The Nottingham-born pundit has replaced Mark Lawrenson this season to take part in the weekly predictions.

Come back, Mark, all is forgiven!

There is some hope for Forest. Last week, Sutton backed Liverpool to defeat Manchester United 5-1 so it’s fair to say he’s not gospel.

Sutton is, of course, only given his opinion. It just makes zero sense to praise the Reds and then predict such a disrespectful score.

Forest would be wise to stick Sutton’s prediction on their dressing room wall ahead of Sunday’s showdown.
