Serge Aurier has agreed to sign for Nottingham Forest and will today flying to Greece to meet with Evangelos Marinakis.

The Reds have been keen to add another right-sided wing-back option to their ranks all summer.

Now, they’re signing a player who made 24 appearances for Villarreal last season and helped them to the Champions League semi-final.

Forest are signing the former Tottenham man on a free transfer and a deal now looks extremely close.

Aurier spent four years in North London and was called ‘special’ by Jose Mourinho when he was in charge at Spurs.

The 29-year-old made 110 appearances for Tottenham and enjoyed a bit of a rollercoaster time of things in the Premier League.

Aurier is now a free agent and Forest are getting a vastly experienced performer without a transfer fee.

It would seem that Forest might also be adding another wing-back. Djibril Sidibe has been on the radar and is also a free agent.

The former Everton man could still sign for Forest, despite the addition of Aurier, according to Get French Football News.

Duncan Ferguson called him ‘unbelievable’ during a spell as caretaker manager of the Toffees and he enjoyed one successful season in the Premier League.

Aurier agreed to Forest terms but signing Sidibe makes no sense

Whichever right-sided wing-back is signed, they will only come in as a backup option.

Neco Williams was signed from Liverpool and he’s been fantastic in each of Forest’s three Premier League games so far.

As a result, he will remain the first choice and Aurier is likely to sign as an option to have in reserve.

Signing Sidibe makes zero sense and surely it will be a case of one or the other when it comes to these two players.

Forest don’t want to fall into the trap of stockpiling players and adding two additions right-backs wouldn’t make sense.
