Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has confirmed that Cristian Romero will miss today’s game against Nottingham Forest. The boss has also said they will run the rule over two other players ahead of their trip to the East Midlands.
Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil are the players rated as doubtful. Both players, it’s been claimed by Charlie Eccleshare, missed training on Friday and a decision will now need to be made ahead of the clash this afternoon.
Romero is the biggest loss for Spurs. The Argentinean is a tremendous centre-back and his absence will be sorely felt at the back for Tottenham as they look to continue their strong start to the campaign.

The 24-year-old signed for Tottenham just over 12 months ago. He cost the club £42.5 million and last season he played in 30 games for Tottenham as they secured a top-four finish.
He is expected to be a big part of the Tottenham team once again this season. The team will hope to challenge for silverware under Conte and the hope will be that he’s not missing for too long.
Forest will be coming up against genuinely world-class players today. As a result, for Tottenham to lose someone like Romero, will hand Steve Cooper a mini boost.
Moura and Gil aren’t really considered first-choice options these days. Gil could find himself heading back to Spain before the transfer window closes, with Sevilla keen to sign him.
Romero will miss Forest game
Conte also confirmed in his press conference with Football London that Oliver Skipp is out too. However, it’s the Romero news that will delight the Forest fan base and give them a bit of hope.
Today will be a tough task regardless. It’s likely to be another sound player that replaces Romero and Forest will still have to be at their very best to get anything out of the game.

Romero has made 11 appearances for the Argentina national team. As a result, it’s crystal clear that he will be a big player for Tottenham during the 2022/23 campaign.
The likes of Brennan Johnson, Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi, will be thankful not to see the £165,000-a-week player on the team sheet today.
