Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move to sign Everton defender Michael Keane, according to Football Insider. The Toffees defender could be allowed to leave the club this summer having fallen out of favour.

Frank Lampard has been actively strengthening his defence this summer. He’s added Conor Coady from Wolves and James Tarkowski has joined from Burnley on a free transfer.

Keane has been with Everton since 2017. He made a name for himself at Burnley where he played 108 times and proved a huge hit with the North West outfit.

The 12-time England international has been an integral part of Everton’s team since he signed. He’s made 187 times for the Toffees but now he could be allowed to leave before the window closes.

Forest are on the lookout for a new defender. The Reds have suffered an unfortunate injury blow with the news that Moussa Niakhate will be out injured for months.

Willy Boly is another name on the list. The Wolves defender could also be on the move, with the Molineux-based club looking at Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson.

Keane is now on the radar though too. The 29-year-old might fancy heading out to Forest in order to play regular first-team football ahead of the World Cup in Qatar this winter.

Forest linked with Keane but they should walk away

This one is a pretty underwhelming link. Keane has been on a downward slope for some years and he’s not really the man that Forest requires in their team right now.

Any centre-back that Forest do add needs to have some pace. Keane isn’t the most mobile of defenders and as a result, the Reds would perhaps be wise to look elsewhere.

Furthermore, he’s unlikely to come cheap. Everton will likely want a substantial loan fee, whilst the player earns £65,000-a-week at Goodison Park.

Taking everything into consideration, this doesn’t look like a good deal. As a result, Forest would be wise to walk away from this deal and focus their attention elsewhere.
