Nottingham Forest-linked defender Trevoh Chalobah has a loan offer on the table from today’s opponents Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Evening Standard.

The Reds have made an enquiry for the Chelsea enforcer who will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

It was claimed earlier this week by 90Min that Forest had made contact with Chelsea to enquire about the youngster.

He had been impressive under Thomas Tuchel at the start of the 2021/22 campaign but has now fallen down the pecking order.

Chalobah is keen for his career not to stagnate and he needs regular first-team in action in order to avoid that being the case.

Forest find themselves looking for another centre-back. Moussa Niakhate has injured his hamstring and could be out for a while.

Chalobah is a product of the youth academy at Stamford Bridge and his stock is very high within the club.

As a result, it seems highly unlikely that the Blues will consider a permanent deal and a loan is on the cards.

Tottenham are trying to add another central defender to their squad. Cristian Romero has picked up an injury and that’s called for Antonio Conte to take action.

It remains to be seen, however, whether Chelsea would be willing to loan Chalobah to a direct rival.

Forest and Spurs will also face competition from abroad. Inter and Jose Mourinho’s Roma are keen to sign the player.

Let’s face it, if Chelsea are willing to let the defender choose, he’s likely to go for Tottenham.

He’ll be playing under one of the best coaches in the world and would also take part in the Champions League.

With that in mind, Forest might be facing a losing battle when it comes to the Chelsea man.

Still, the Reds appear to be shopping in the right markets and if they could get Chalobah, he’d be a useful signing.

The Forest backline will lack a bit of pace in the absence of Niakhate and the Chelsea man could offer that.

Chalobah made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Blues last season and he will fancy regular game time again this season.

If Forest can convince him of that at the City Ground, they might just win the race for his signature.
