Lyle Taylor has raved about former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Brice Samba on Instagram. The stopper produced a moment of magic at the weekend as Lens defeated Rennes 2-1.
Samba was a surprise departure in the summer. Shortly after the Reds won promotion to the Premier League, it emerged that the goalkeeper was unwilling to sign a new deal and would be seeking a move.
The 27-year-old held a desire to return to French football. Forest added Dean Henderson and Wayne Hennessey to their ranks and then allowed Samba his wish.
Lens won on Saturday thanks to goals from Seko Fofana and Lois Openda. Gaetan Laborde pulled one back in injury time but the French outfit had Samba to be thankful for.
After the game, he shared a post on Instagram and it drew some praise. The player was a popular figure on Trentside and his influence in the dressing room was a useful attribute to have.
Forest can’t be too disgruntled with how things have gone. Henderson has been amazing since checking in and has already saved penalties from Declan Rice and Harry Kane this season.
Taylor raved about Samba after magic moment
The striker has now fallen out of the Forest squad. He was on the bench for the first two games of the season but with new signings now settling, he’s available for transfer.
Taylor will be looking to move on before Thursday’s transfer deadline. He will hope to get himself hooked up with a new club, much like Samba managed to earlier this summer.
Forest have a host of attacking options right now. With that in mind, Taylor is down the pecking order and now in his thirties, he simply needs to be playing football.
After his heroics at the weekend, Taylor replied to Samba’s Instagram post with one word, which read: “Normal.”
