Nottingham Forest face the mammoth task of trying to beat the Premier League champions on their own turf tonight. The Reds make a first trip to the Etihad Stadium to play top-flight football against Pep Guardiola’s team.

Forest did well in defeat on Sunday. Two goals from Harry Kane proved enough, in the end, to send Forest to a second defeat of their maiden Premier League campaign in 23 years.

Ahead of tonight’s game, we’ve looked at how Forest might line up as they prepare to take on the juggernaut that is Manchester City.

Predicted Forest XI v Manchester City:

In goal and defensive unit

Dean Henderson saved yet another penalty taken by an England international at the weekend and he will keep his place between the posts.

At centre-back, there could possibly be one change with Cheikhou Kouyate asked to fill in for Steve Cook who might be handed a rest.

Scott McKenna and Joe Worrall should both keep their places in the team.

At wing-back, there could be one change. Renan Lodi has signed from Atletico Madrid and he might replace Harry Toffolo in the side.

On the right, Neco Williams should start.

Again there could be a change here and Cooper could mix his team up somewhat.

Remo Freuler may come in for Ryan Yates to partner Lewis O’Brien. The academy graduate hasn’t played a deal of football and he could be saved for Saturday.

Leading the Forest line

Forest will want to give themselves the very best chance of getting something out of the game.

With that in mind, they should still play a relatively strong front three this evening.

We don’t expect Brennan Johnson, Jesse Lingard or Morgan Gibbs-White to be taken out of the team this evening.
