Nottingham Forest have made a fresh bid for Josh Bowler, according to 90Min. After falling with several other bids, the Reds have now made an attempt to sign the Blackpool star for a fee of £3 million.
The window will close tomorrow and Forest are keen to get this deal wrapped up. Bowler will be out of contract during the summer of 2023 and boss Michael Appleton appears resigned to losing him.
Bowler has made a decent start to the 2022/23 campaign. He has scored twice for the Tangerines and was on the mark during Saturday’s 3-3 draw against Bristol City.
The 23-year-old is a wanted man. Previously, Blackburn and Bournemouth have been linked with moves for the tricky winger who signed for Blackpool last summer.
Bowler has a huge admirer in Steve Cooper. Forest thought they’d signed him in January but the player chose to stay at Blackpool with the club pushing for a play-off place in the Championship.
During his time at Everton, Bowler was labelled as ‘magic’ but the club’s former Under-23 boss. As a result, it was perhaps a surprise that he didn’t get to play at Goodison Park.
Bowler has played in all six games the Tangerines have played this season. He is also set to line up for the club tonight as they face Blackburn at home.
Fresh bid made by Forest for Bowler
The Reds are clearly keen to get this deal over the line and it seems likely that Steve Cooper will be driving this deal to get it over the line.
Tonight could be the last time that Bowler gets to wear the tangerine jersey. With the window slamming shut tomorrow, Blackpool have a huge decision to make now.
Bowler would have serious point to prove in the Premier League. He would, however, bolster the squad options in Cooper’s ranks and that might bode well for the future.
Furthermore, the youngster would allow Forest to switch up their system and his level of versatility could help the Reds over the course of the current campaign.
