Blackpool winger Josh Bowler is on his way to Nottingham Forest to undergo a medical but there could be a caveat to the deal.

It’s being claimed by reports in Greece and by John Percy that the player could actually go on loan to Olympiacos for the season!

The Reds have been chasing the tricky winger for some time, with the player rejecting a move to the City Ground in January.

Now, new boss Michael Appleton is in a bit of a predicament over his prized attacking asset.

The player will be out of contract in under 12 months and this could be the club’s last chance to recoup a serious transfer fee for the player.

It’s claimed that Bowler played last night as the two clubs haggled over the fee for the 23-year-old.

Forest’s offer was around £3.5 million and it seems nonsensical that the club were bartering over a small amount of money.

Now, the player looks set to join Forest, although it will be interesting to see whether he stays in Nottingham or heads for Athens.

Bowler set for medical but he could go on loan

This would be a very useful signing, not least because it would allow Forest to change their formation.

As a result, it doesn’t appear to make much sense to be loaning the player straight out to Olympiacos.

Of course, at this stage, it’s not sure whether this proves to be accurate or not and things could change quickly.

Forest have a requirement for another winger and they could be making an error by loaning him to the Greek champions for a year.

Clearly, someone at Forest believes he’s not quite ready for Premier League football and it looks set to be fascinating to see how this one unfolds.
