Nottingham Forest lost 3-2 at Bournemouth but Renan Lodi showcases exactly why the Reds were so desperate to land him this summer.

Forest paid a £5 million loan fee to sign the player from Atletico Madrid and they will have an option to buy him in the summer.

A £25 million has been agreed but it’s on the basis that Forest stay in the Premier League. Ultimately, Forest would be better to walk before they can run with that one!

Lodi has looked pretty decent in both games he’s played so far for Forest. He did have a tough night against Manchester City but even then he looked pretty useful in flashes.

Yesterday he has the chance to make his first appearance in front of the City Ground faithful. He played in his usual left-sided wing-back role and did really well during the contest.

The Brazilian showed what he can bring to the Forest team. Some statistics from Who Scored also highlighted that he can be useful at both ends of the pitch.

Defensively he was relatively sound. He made two tackles, won three interceptions and also made a couple of crucial clearances for the Reds.

His passing was okay. He made 81% of his 37 attempted passes and also attempted a staggering seven crosses during the 3-2 defeat.

Eyebrows were raised when the Reds landed another left-sided full-back. Harry Toffolo and Omar Richards were both added to the squad in the summer, although the latter is currently injured.

Lodi looks a find though and he is undoubtedly one of the most stellar signings that the club has made during the most recent transfer window.

Coming from Atletico Madrid means he will set himself the highest of standards. As a result, he should be capable of holding a place down in this Forest team.

Lodi proved the highlight of a drab Forest performance and there will be more to come from the Brazilian international.
