Nottingham Forest and West Ham made genuine attempts to try and sign Moise Kean during the summer, according to Calcio Mercato.

The 22-year-old was a wanted man during the summer transfer window as Juventus sought to offload him.

Kean is now in his second season on loan with the Old Lady but they were willing to break his two-year deal with the club.

Forest and West Ham were both thought to be keen; although neither club managed to strike a deal.

Juventus do have an obligation to buy the striker next summer for £27 million but he’s hardly setting the league alight.

Kean has failed to find the net from five outings during 2022/2 and bagged just six goals in 44 appearances during the last campaign.

Technically, Kean remains an Everton player right now. That will change next summer when Juventus are obliged to buy him.

The youngster was tipped for big things in the game when he burst onto the scene as a teenager.

An article from The Athletic saw one football pundit claim that he was ‘on the same path as Edison Cavani’, with his potential so vast.

Now, it would appear that Juventus were keen to offload him, whilst Everton don’t want him back at Goodison Park.

Kean is an all-action sort of striker and a move would have allowed him to try and revive his faltering career.

Forest and West Ham made genuine attempts to sign Kean

Perhaps signing Kean proved to be a risk that Forest simply could afford to take during the summer.

The talisman is earning £49,000-a-week at the moment and he would have wanted a sizeable salary to return to the Premier League.

West Ham would have likely provided a more lucrative package and they would have had European football on the table.

Kean does tick some boxes for Forest. He’s young, would retain sell-on value and does have a reputation in Europe.

Still, his lack of form for some time now would simply make him too much of a risk for Forest to take on.

One thing that showing an interest in Kean does show, is the ambition that Evangelos Marinakis is showing.

He vowed to back the team with investment following promotion and nobody can claim that he’s not done that.
