Joe Worrall has sent a message to Nottingham Forest supporters in an interview with Premier League Productions.

The defender has played in all six of the club’s Premier League games since their return to the top flight.

The players are still adapting to life in the top-flight, with Forest claiming just four points from their opening six games.

Last time out the Reds suffered a disappointing defeat to Bournemouth after leading the Cherries 2-0 at half-time.

Worrall is a homegrown player and has risen through the academy ranks to lead the club into the Premier League.

He was named the club captain in the summer and that’s a role that naturally he will be delighted to be given.

After winning promotion, Worrall has sent a message to the club’s supporters ahead of future endeavours.

He said: “We’re under no illusions that for the last 12 months we’ve been used to winning football matches.

“As a dressing room, we’re a group that wants to win football matches.

“This is the Premier League though and it’s a different level. A lot of people might say, ‘oh, Forest aren’t good enough for the Premier League’.

“The players and the fans, we need to stick by each other. There will be some tough, tough moments this season but during the tough times we will need each other.”

The team will need the supporters to stick by them this season but likewise, the players will need to stand up and be counted.

Getting thrashed by Manchester City is one thing but throwing away a two-goal lead at home to Bournemouth deserves critique.

The Cherries were tumped 9-0 the week previously and played Forest with a caretaker manager in the dugout.

Worrall, like many other players, will have to show that he is capable of being a regular in a Premier League team.

As he alluded to in the interview, however, he’s proved people wrong throughout his career and now is focus will be on doing that once again.
