Journalist Dean Jones has claimed in an interview with Give Me Sport that Steve Cooper could be under threat at Nottingham Forest.

The Reds have lost four games on the spin and have recently been beaten by Bournemouth and Fulham at home.

That has led the club to apparently sound out other managers, with Evangelos Marinakis keen to ensure the team stays in the Premier League.

Forest are expected to give him some more time to turn things around. After all, Cooper did end 23 years of hurt in May when he ended the club’s exile from the top flight.

Football moves quickly though and it’s claimed that other managers might come under consideration.

Jones told Give Me Sport: “Steve Cooper might be under threat sooner than most people would expect. I’ve heard murmurs about the club beginning to think about what they could do next, how big they could go if they did look for a new boss.

“I think it would be very harsh but I also think this situation is one we need to look out for after the international break.”

Cooper could be under threat at Forest but that’s just ludicrous

Jones might be a reputable name when it comes to calling transfers and such but it’d be interesting to know where these ‘murmurs’ have come from.

The Reds would be silly to sack Cooper. Furthermore, he has an excellent relationship with Dane Murphy and the Marinakis family and a departure seems unlikely.

Forest must stick together. The Reds aren’t in great form but after signing 22 new players, the club must remember that this will take time, whoever is the manager of the team.

Cooper deserves time to try and mould this group of players into his own.

The Reds will want to avoid dropping back into the Championship at the first time of asking but hopefully, a departure for Cooper isn’t imminent.
