TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan has claimed that Steve Cooper shouldn’t be under any real threat at Nottingham Forest.

The Reds have lost four games on the spin in the Premier League and sit second from bottom in the league table.

Some context is required though. It’s the first time Forest have been back in the top division for 23 years and things will take time.

The club signed 22 new players during the summer. As a result, it will take some time to get a settled team together under Cooper.

Jordan doesn’t believe that Cooper should be in any real danger. He thinks that the Welshman should even be given the full season regardless of what happens.

He told TalkSPORT: “Steve Cooper should be under any real threat at Forest. You have to be realistic about what you want.

“The challenge for me is the logic of pending £150 million will take away the gratitude for what he did last season.

“Cooper doesn’t deserve backing forever but he certainly deserves a certain amount of time. At the moment, he can’t do much more.

“There should be preparing, in a worst-case scenario, to accept relegation and come back again with this manager.

“The point is, however, that I don’t think Marinakis will accept that.”

Jordan is right, Cooper shouldn’t be under any threat

The Reds are in a bit of a pickle. Ultimately, Cooper isn’t completely to blame for the current plight and he’s proved his worth in the past.

Forest have good players in their squad right now. As a result, this should be a blip and there is hope that they can improve.

It was never going to be easy to blend so many players together so quickly. With that in mind, the team’s struggles perhaps haven’t come as too much of a surprise.

Cooper has a lot of credit in the bank from last season. Furthermore, he’s proved the critics wrong before and there’s no reason he can’t do the same again.
