The talented 21-year-old is adjusting nicely to international football and now looks on course to make an impact at the forthcoming World Cup.
Rob Page has previously heaped praise on the Forest man. He understands just how good he can be and looks set to make him integral.
Johnson has scored twice in the Premier League so far. He’s taking some time to get up to full speed in the top-flight but it will certainly come.
Last night, he played the full 90 minutes for Wales. He couldn’t prevent the nation from being relegated from their Nations League group, however.
Wales Online were seriously impressed. They named him as their Man of the Match and gave him a rating of 8/10 for his performance.
The publication claimed online: “Pace caused Poland problems all evening. Carved out a couple of really decent chances for himself, and may well feel his performance deserved more.
“A real positive on what was otherwise a disappointing night. Has to feel he’s in with a good chance of starting in Qatar.”
Forest star Johnson handed Man of the Match
The cynical Forest supporters will be wondering where this Johnson has been during the domestic campaign.
After scoring 19 goals and claiming 10 assists last season, it’s fair to say that more was expected from Johnson this time around.
Still, Johnson is a burgeoning talent. He will come good and naturally, the Reds will hope that comes sooner rather than later.
The youngster is clearly adapting very well to life playing international football and next, he will want to conquer the Premier League.
Johnson does now look a certainty to go to Qatar in a couple of months for the World Cup.
Performances akin to last night will definitely help him make the starting eleven in Page’s team.
