Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson has picked the two goalkeepers that he’s looked up to the most during his career.

The Reds completed the signing of Henderson during the summer. He checked in from Manchester United on a season-long loan deal and has started well.

He’s saved penalties from Declan Rice and Harry Kane this season, with his form likely to be integral to Forest’s fortunes.

Henderson has only kept one clean sheet but Steve Cooper is still trying to get a settled defensive unit in place ahead of him.

His call-up to the England camp was just deserved and in an interview with Sky Sports, he’s now picked out his biggest influences.

He told Sky Sports: “I think (Peter) Schmeichel overall with the starfish and everything like that; it was phenomenal.

“When I actually became a goalkeeper, I think Joe Hart was.

“He went out on loan and built his way up. Seeing him in Manchester City’s team, he was one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and he was unbelievable for England.”

Two goalkeepers picked by Henderson and he will hope they can provide inspiration

The 25-year-old has been tremendous for the Reds during 2022/22 and already looks like an upgrade on Brice Samba.

It’s not really a surprise to see him name a Manchester United favourite as one of his favourites of all time.

Hart, however, perhaps does come as a bit of a shock. The player spent the vast majority of his prime playing across Manchester for City.

Henderson will hope to emulate Hart with the number of caps he claims for England, with the Celtic man collecting 75 for his country.

In the immediate future, the goalkeeper will hope to do enough for Forest to earn a place in the England squad for the World Cup.

As for the Reds, they will hope that they can stay up this season.

If they do that, a longer-term deal for Henderson might not completely be out of the question.
