Nottingham Forest have put the spotlight on Lewis O’Brien in some training footage that was released yesterday as Steve Cooper prepares to make a big call.
The little maestro was brilliant off the bench against Fulham. He scored his first Forest goal and arguably did more in 20 minutes that Ryan Yates and Remo Freuler managed in far longer.
Now, he’s thrown his hat into the ring to star for Forest on Monday.
Cooper has some big calls to make. He also has some possible injury concerns to deal with and that won’t help the club’s faltering form.
After Forest slipped to a 3-2 defeat to Fulham, the Reds fan base demanded that O’Brien is never dropped again.
The 23-year-old covered every blade of grass during his time on the pitch sending a firm message to his manager.
Forest have been tweeting out their usual training pictures this week and one of them is of O’Brien.
Naturally, that has excited the Reds fan base and plenty of fans have sent messages demanding that he starts.
Despite their poor start to 2022/23, Leicester will be bang up for Monday’s game.
As a result, playing O’Brien seems to make perfect sense given his ability to break play up and get the team moving forwards.
Forest put spotlight on O’Brien
It doesn’t mean too much that they’ve put a picture of O’Brien smiling in training really.
Ultimately, Cooper will still pick the team that he believes is capable of beating Leicester on Monday.
It does seem clear, however, that the club are acutely aware that O’Brien is quickly becoming a fan favourite.
The youngster signed for Forest from Huddersfield in the summer for a fee in the region of £10 million.
He already looks like the real deal and as a result, Cooper simply has to start him at the King Power Stadium.
