The Reds talisman failed to secure a move away from the City Ground during the summer transfer window.
He spent the second half of last season on loan with Birmingham, scoring five goals in 14 appearances.
It was anticipated that would be enough to earn him a move away from Forest following promotion to the Premier League.
It didn’t though and Taylor found himself on the bench for the first two games of the 2022/23 campaign.
In a further blow, the Reds striker was left out of the 25-man squad and he won’t play football until January at the earliest.
Forest did look to move Taylor on but with the player likely on sizeable wages, there were no takers in the Championship.
His time at Forest hasn’t quite gone according to plan; although he’s not solely to blame for that.
Sabri Lamouchi signed him with the intention of utilising him in a two-pronged attack with Lewis Grabban.
It soon became apparent that Lamouchi wasn’t going to do that and furthermore, he was sacked early into Taylor’s time at the club.
In 61 appearances for the Reds, Taylor has found the net eight times, with his last goals for the club coming against Bristol City last season.
Taylor posts update on Instagram
The striker was never going to be a regular in the Premier League but he must have expected a move away from the club.
That never transpired but it would appear he’s staying as professional as ever despite not being able to play.
He’s posted a photo of a training drill on Instagram, with the caption: “Work. Quietly.”
That would suggest that he’s working hard in a desperate attempt to get picked up in January.
Taylor is a likeable player and he does deserve to be playing football somewhere during the second half of 2022/23.
