Nottingham Forest duo Dean Henderson and Renan Lodi are in danger of missing the World Cup after failing to make an impression on international duty.

The Reds have several international players who will hope to head to Qatar. Some players are more cemented with their countries than others, with the tournament now just months away.

Henderson has forced his way back into the England fold.

He was called up for the National League double-header with Italy and Germany but failed to get on the pitch.

Furthermore, Jordan Pickford is now fit and he will likely remain Gareth Southgate’s number one in Qatar.

As for Lodi, he was only called up for the recent friendlies as a backup.

Even then he only made a cameo appearance in one of the games, with Alex Telles preferred.

He was in the most recent squad with Alex Sandro injured and he will almost certainly return for the tournament.

Five Reds set for Qatar

Despite some uncertainty surrounding Lodi and Henders, Forest will be represented at the World Cup.

Three players should be confirmed in the Wales squad when Rob Page named his travelling party.

Wayne Hennessey, Neco Williams and Brennan Johnson should all make the squad as the Welsh prepare to face England.

Elsewhere, Remo Freuler and Cheikhou Kouyate also look certainties.

Freuler is a regular in the Switzerland team and he scored against the Czech Republic earlier this week.

He has 48 caps for the national team and he will definitely be going to the World Cup.

Likewise, Kouyate, he was only a backup option during the recent friendlies but he looks likely to be going to the World Cup with Senegal.

Another Forest star sweating

Along with Lodi and Henderson, some players will face a waiting game to see if they make the cut.

One of those will be Moussa Niakhate.

He earned a call-up to the Senegal squad for the first time a fortnight ago but wasn’t able to play due to injury.

He will know that he needs to get fit quickly if he’s to have any chance of being in the squad.

He’s been very useful since he signed for Forest but ultimately time is running out to win a place at the World Cup.
