Nottingham Forest are sweating on the fitness of two players ahead of Monday’s trip to Leicester City.

The Reds head south to face the Foxes, with Scott McKenna and Morgan Gibbs-White both facing late checks.

McKenna pulled out of Scotland’s game against Ukraine earlier this week and is rated as doubtful.

He played in every Premier League game this season and not having him available would represent a blow.

As for Gibbs-White, he didn’t take part in either of the England under-21 games after withdrawing from the squad.

The 22-year-old has been looking like hitting top form of late and he was clearly getting used to the way Forest play.

Not having him available would represent a blow and Steve Cooper will hope the record signing is available.

Cooper was typically quite coy on completely ruling the duo out but it’s fair to say that it doesn’t sound good.

He told Nottinghamshire Live: “Scott is a doubt, to be honest. He had to withdraw early from the Scotland camp. With regards to Monday, we’re still unsure whether he will be available for that.

“Morgan obviously missed on the England Under-21s. But we are integrating him back into training over the last day or two. We are completely conclusive on that yet, but we are hoping so.”

This does represent a sizeable blow for the Reds as they look to end a run of form successive defeats.

Both McKenna and Gibbs-White have done okay during the current campaign and Cooper views them both as integral.

Although Leicester do have some seriously talented players, they have been very suspect at the back this season.

Brendan Rodgers’ team have failed to keep a clean sheet yet and are on a run of six successive defeats.

Cooper has been known to rule players out of his team before, only for them to be included when the team sheet is confirmed.

Forest supporters will be hoping that is the case with McKenna and Gibbs-White on Monday.
