Simon Jordan has suggested he’d be stunned if Nottingham Forest decided to wield the axe on Steve Cooper after a poor run of results.
The former Crystal Palace owner made the claim on TalkSPORT yesterday ahead of a 4-0 defeat for Forest at Leicester.
It’s now five defeats on the spin for the Reds and naturally, that has piled the pressure on Cooper.
He has been given a squad that features 22 new players and it was always going to be tricky to get things working.
The players look devoid of any confidence whatsoever and they’ve capitulated in each of their last three fixtures.
That can’t continue and as is typically the case in football, it’s usually the manager that carries the can.
Jordan doesn’t believe that Cooper shouldn’t be in any immediate danger of losing his job, however.
He told TalkSPORT: “Any talk of Steve Cooper getting the sack is laughable. I would have immense sympathy if this particular game was a determining factor in Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest future.
“If Nottingham Forest lose to Leicester and Steve Cooper is to be fired, I think it would be preposterous.”
Jordan would be stunned if Cooper was given the axe
The TalkSPORT pundit is perhaps one of the better people currently talking football on the television or radio.
He’s got it absolutely spot on once again here.
Cooper has been dealt a really tough hand at Forest since they won promotion to the Prmeier League.
The Reds didn’t add any of their loan players back to the ranks and as a result, 22 new players signed for the club.
It’s proving a real challenge to try and get all of those stars blended together and the togetherness isn’t there at the moment.
Cooper came to Forest in their hour of need.
As a result, he now needs the board to back him in his sticky moment and one positive result could make a huge difference.
