Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper is viewed by the Football Association as a possible future England manager, according to the Daily Mail.

The Reds boss is in a perilous situation at the City Ground. Speculation has started over his future after Monday’s 4-0 defeat to Leicester.

Forest aren’t thought to be making an immediate decision but an improvement is expected by the club’s hierarchy.

The Reds incumbent has overseen just one win in eight Premier League games and his team has lost five games on the spin.

Forest are now facing a dilemma. Do they stick with a manager who has been a miracle worker during his time at the club or twist and start the process again?

Fans are hopeful that Cooper can be given some time. He’s had 22 players to blend into his squad and that was never going to be easy.

The 42-year-old is a well-respected coach in the game. He’s only really at the start of his journey in club management and that should see him offered time.

Forest have seven games before the mid-season break for the World Cup. The Reds hierarchy would earn a lot of respect by handing Cooper all of those games at the absolute minimum.

The Reds incumbent did some scouting for England when he was sacked by Swansea.

He spent his time compiling various reports for boss Gareth Southgate as he took some time out of the game before joining Forest.

Now, it’s claimed that Cooper will firmly be in the sights of the FA at some point during the future.

The Welshman has already won a World Cup with England after his under-17 team claimed the trophy in 2017.

That tournament proved the catalyst for him to move into club management and he’s taken to it like a duck to water.

Forest must think very carefully before making any decision on Cooper.
