Former Nottingham Forest striker Karim Ansarifard struck against Manchester United in the week as Omonia Nicosia lost 3-2 in the Europa League.
Neil Lennon’s team gave the Red Devils a real scare in their latest European clash.
Ansarifard is hardly a name that will strike too many fond memories for Forest fans given his underwhelming spell.
Still, plenty did feel that he had something about him if only Aitor Karanka and Martin O’Neill had used him more.

The 32-year-old signed for the Cypriot outfit during the summer from AEK Athens where he had spent two years.
Ansarifard spent a short time at Forest during the 2018/19 campaign. He scored twice and claimed two assists during 12 outings in the Garibaldi.
Now, he’s looking to make his mark in Cyprus with Nicosia.
The Europa League isn’t quite going according to plan for Lennon and his men thus far.
Nicosia have lost all three of their games in the competition and are now facing elimination at the group stages.
Still, it was a great performance by the minnows against United and they had Erik ten Hag’s men on the ropes at times.
Ansarifard’s goal gave the hosts a shock lead but the Premier League outfit roared back to claim a victory.
Ansarifard struck against United
The experienced striker was a marquee signing for Nicosia in the summer.
Lennon added him to the ranks and so far he’s been a mainstay in attack for the Cypriot outfit.
He’s now scored twice for his new club and there will be more to come from the talisman during 2022/23.

Ansarifard is well-travelled and he will now look to finish his career in style in Cyrpus.
The player was never guilty of not working hard enough during his time at Forest but ultimately he was short on quality.
He showcased against United in midweek, however, with the right service he will score goals.
