Nottingham Forest-owned gem endures tough night during EFL loan, he ‘needed to be stronger’

Nottingham Forest midfielder Tyrese Fornah is enjoying a decent loan spell at Reading but on Friday he was on the losing team.

The Royals slipped to a late defeat against QPR, with Lyndon Dykes scoring a late penalty in a 2-1 win.

Fornah has joined the club on loan until the end of the 2022/23 campaign and he’s a regular under Paul Ince.

The 23-year-old looks like being a big player for Forest in the future and Steve Cooper is a big admirer.

In December 2021, he told Nottinghamshire Live: “We like Tyrese. He’s a good young player.”

Playing football was always going to be important for him this season and the Championship should put him in good shape.

On Friday against QPR, perhaps an area for improvement emerged in his performance.

So far this season, it’s been a large amount of praise for Fornah but Reading Live hinted at a development point on Friday.

They claimed: “He put in a decent shift overall but not his best game for Reading.

“Needed to get tighter to QPR’s players in the first half with the midfield overrun and needed to be stronger in his 50-50s.”

Fornah enjoying decent Reading loan but he’s a work in progress

It’s only natural at this stage of his development that some games won’t go according to plan.

Fornah got a 6.5/10 for Reading on Friday and he will definitely hope to have better games this season.

With Ince’s team in a lofty league position, it’s obvious that Fornah has enjoyed better performances this season.

The challenge for him is to continue playing regularly and learn from his performances that don’t prove as successful.

It would appear that there is nothing wrong with his work rate but perhaps at times, he could just be that little bit stronger.

That should come though.

Fornah is another talented player emerging through the Forest academy ranks and perhaps he will make his mark next season.
