Former Nottingham Forest man Mark Crossley was pleased to see the Reds stop the rot at the City Ground last night.

Forest drew 1-1 on Trentside with Aston Villa, with Emmanuel Dennis opening his account for the club.

Ashley Young earned Villa a share of the spoils but after five straight defeats, this was a welcome point.

Forest started the game utilising a 4-3-3 system and it made the Reds more solid defensively.

The Reds boss Steve Cooper signed a new contract on Friday and naturally, he got a raucous reception last night.

The atmosphere on Trentside was largely good and it’s just a shame that Forest couldn’t claim a big three points.

Crossley was a real hero for the Reds during his playing days and became a firm fan favourite.

He played 393 times for Forest and established himself as the number-one goalkeeper at the club.

The goalkeeper played for several clubs during his career but Forest are the team he holds closest to his heart.

He can often be found at the City Ground watching the Reds and last night he had some praise for the team.

It was nice for supporters to leave the City Ground having not seen their team beaten.

It’s been a long time since Forest beat West Ham on August 14th and they’re desperately craving three points.

The Reds did climb off the bottom of the Premier League though by reaching five points for the campaign.

Crossley watched on as the team claimed an important point and there is definitely more to come from the team.

Forest now have six games to play before the World Cup and it’s vital they continue picking up some points.
