Steve Cooper has praised Nottingham Forest striker Emmanuel Dennis after the Reds drew 1-1 with Aston Villa.
Forest have finally stopped the rot.
The Premier League dream has turned into a nightmare of the last months, with the Reds losing five on the spin.
The performance against Villa was a vast improvement though from a Forest point of view.
Cooper set his side up to be more compact, tougher to beat and maintain their shape throughout the game.
The head coach made five changes to his team and in going with three in midfield they reaped the rewards.
Forest did take the lead when Dennis headed home a Morgan Gibbs-White set piece and he worked tirelessly throughout.
After the game, Cooper raved about his striker who helped Forest claim a decent point at home.
He told BBC Radio Nottingham (10/10/22; 10:27): “He’s waited patiently. Emmanuel is an interesting player and I’m delighted to give him his start.
“I’m really pleased to see him score and generally do well in the team.”
Dennis signed for Forest from Watford in the summer for around £20 million.
As a result, it’s perhaps a surprise that he’s not started more often but ultimately, not everyone can feature all of the time.
Cooper heaped praise on Forest striker Dennis
On this showing, the Reds’ head coach would be wise to stick with many of the players who started tonight against Wolves.
One of those has to be Dennis.
He was simply fantastic in leading the line and never stopped giving his all for the team.
Dennis has had a frustrating start to life at the City Ground but clearly, his confidence hasn’t taken a hit.
His header was well-taken and there will be more to come from him with the right level of service.
There are definitely more goals to come from Dennis and under Cooper, he could thrive given plenty of game time.
