The Nottingham Forest hierarchy have sacked backroom duo George Syrianos and Andy Scott from the recruitment team, The Telegraph has confirmed.
Evangelos Marinakis was keen for someone to carry the can for a poor start to the season and the duo have now departed.
Forest are 19th in the Premier League, although they did stop a run of five straight defeats with a 1-1 draw over Aston Villa.
Marinakis and new sporting director Filippo Giraldi have investigated the club’s summer recruitment drive.

Despite the former Watford man only being in place since Wednesday last week, two staff members have departed already.
Now, he will be tasked with hiring new staff members to replace Syrianos and Scott in the near future.
Syrianos has been at the club since July 2021 when he joined from VfB Stuttgart. Scott arrived in January 2022 having worked with Cooper before.
It does seem strange that the duo have departed so soon after the transfer window closed.
Admittedly, the start to the season hasn’t gone according to plan but it was always going to be hard with 22 new signings.
Why an inquest has been called after just nine matches makes absolutely zero sense and seems incredibly harsh.
Duo sacked by Forest and this doesn’t look good
From the outside looking in, this seems harsh on the pair.
Perhaps crucially though, it’s not likely to go down well with Cooper and Dane Murphy.
The pair were associates of the influential duo and they were clearly trusted members of staff.
Why the review wasn’t done closer to the January window is quite remarkable really.
Surely, it would have made more sense to let the majority of the signings try and prove themselves more.

Furthermore, Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala would surely have been Syrianos signings and they’ve been useful.
Okay, they’ve spent some time injured but that is very unfortunate and clearly not the fault of the now-former Forest employee.
One normal day of Forest would be ideal right now.
With changes aplenty, the club look in danger of unravelling and seriously turning the Premier League dream into a nightmare.
