Darren Bent has told TalkSPORT that Nottingham Forest sacking two recruitment staff shows they have faith in Steve Cooper.
George Syrianos and Andy Scott both left the club on Tuesday after a board meeting was held by Evangelos Marinakis.
The Reds fan base has gone into meltdown with Syrianos in particular responsible for last season’s unbelievable loan recruitment.
Cooper was responsible for bringing Scott to the club. The pair worked together at Swansea and he was a member of staff that he was keen to have at the City Ground.
Now, new sporting director Filippo Giraldi will be responsible for finding replacements for the departed pair.
Bent believes the decision by Marinakis is another show of faith from the hierarchy in the direction of Cooper.
He told TalkSPORT: “It tells me that’s what’s going on at the minute, isn’t really Steve Cooper’s job, because they’ve backed him, they’ve seen what he can do and they believe the recruitment hasn’t been good enough.
“Now, I get it, they needed it. A lot of Nottingham Forest fans will tell us, and rightly so, they lost a lot of players in the summer so they had to recruit a lot of players.
“When you start looking at some of the quality of the players that have come in, it hasn’t been good enough.
“It tells me the owners aren’t happy. They’re happy with Steve Cooper but what they’re seeing on the pitch doesn’t mirror what they’ve put in their pockets and bought.”

This is an interesting take although it’s perhaps slightly flawed a little bit.
Scott was definitely a Cooper appointment and as a result, sacking him doesn’t make a deal of sense.
Unless of course, the head coach is also sceptical over some of the recruitment that Forest did in the summer.
Ultimately, it’s Marinakis’ club and there is little point in fans losing sleep over how he chooses to run Nottingham Forest.
He clearly wanted someone to carry the can for a poor start to the season and thankfully he’s decided not to axe Cooper.
